XP Power targets quiet medical equipment with fanless 750W power supplies

XP Power has launched the UCH750 series, a range of 750W convection-cooled AC-DC power supplies designed for noise-sensitive medical and industrial equipment. The company claims the compact, chassis-mount products are among the few fanless medical power supplies available at this power level.

Quiet, reliable operation

In addition to eliminating fan noise, the company noted that the removal of the cooling fan removes a component that can wear out over time. For equipment designers, this means lower maintenance requirements while supporting quieter operation in applications such as medical imaging, patient monitoring, diagnostic instruments, treatment equipment and home healthcare devices.

The series is aimed particularly at type BF (body floating)-rated medical equipment used in hospitals, where patient protection and low leakage current are important design considerations. These include blood pressure monitors, ultrasound equipment, EKG/ECG monitors and electrically powered hospital beds.

XP Power says the supplies provide 2 x MOPP (Means of Patient Protection) isolation between input and output, with patient leakage current of no more than 100µA at 264VAC/60Hz.

The UCH750 has a CB report to IEC60601-1 for medical equipment, alongside UL and TÜV safety approvals. It also carries IEC62368-1 safety approvals, which the company says can simplify certification for information technology and industrial equipment.

Efficiency and design flexibility

Each supply achieves up to 96% efficiency, reducing conversion losses and the heat that must be managed within the end equipment. The units measure 203.2 x 127.0 x 40.0 mm and are available in Class I and Class II versions; Class II provides enhanced safety for medical and home healthcare applications, including dialysis machines.

Five models offer nominal outputs of 12VDC, 24VDC, 36VDC, 48VDC and 54VDC from a 90 to 264VAC input. Full 750W output is available from 100VAC at ambient temperatures up to +50°C.

The series meets EN55032 Class B limits for conducted and radiated emissions. It includes remote on/off control of the main output and a 5VDC/2A standby output for control circuitry when the main output is switched off. Protection functions cover overload, short-circuit, overvoltage and overtemperature conditions.

Relevance across Asia

For medical-device manufacturers, hospitals and industrial operators across Asia, the launch addresses two practical pressures: the need for reliable equipment in space- and thermally constrained environments. And specific to the healthcare sector, quieter technology as care extends into clinics and homes.

Fanless designs can be particularly relevant where maintenance access is limited or where acoustic comfort matters in patient-facing settings.

Beyond healthcare, XP Power positions the UCH750 for test and measurement systems, factory automation, semiconductor manufacturing equipment and telecommunications infrastructure—sectors where quiet operation, high efficiency and uptime are important.

The company has not disclosed pricing or regional availability details in the announcement.
