NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), the ICT solutions and international communications business within the NTT Group, has announced that it is acquiring a majority stake in European Internet of Things (IoT) cellular connectivity management provider and Mobile Virtual Network Enabler (MVNE) Translatel.
Established in 2000, Transatel has, since 2012, been deploying its own worldwide data MVNO network compliant with Embedded SIM (eSIM*2) technology to address three key market segments: consumer electronics, automotive, and industrial IoT (IIoT).
NTT Com said the acquisition will allow it to extend its global IoT solutions.

Jacques Bonifay, Transatel CEO and founder, said the move with NTT Com, Transatel will acquire the the capacity to greatly increase its operational presence in Asia for the benefit of its European customers.
Transatel’s award-winning SIM 901 platform has been selected by prestigious enterprises to deliver secure, global cellular connectivity services, authentication and network management.
It has also the track record of over 170 successful client MVNO launches and is the leading European MVNE.
The two companies see the development of connected cars, industrial & consumer IoT and smart cities as bringing major changes and new business opportunities that would enable enterprises to connect, manage and monetize their IoT services.
The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
