Nemetschek brings agentic AI to architecture, engineering and construction

Nemetschek Group has launched a family of premium AI offerings for architecture, engineering and construction: Archicad Max, Allplan Max and Bluebeam Max. Powered by the company’s Nemetschek Intelligence Platform, the products are designed to automate repetitive work while keeping professionals responsible for design decisions.

The launch comes as architecture, engineering and construction firms face growing project complexity, compressed schedules and staff shortages. Nemetschek said much of the industry’s time is still spent searching for information, checking models and drawings, and repeating routine tasks.

AI across disciplines

Archicad Max, from Graphisoft, is aimed at data- and AI-driven architecture practices working on complex projects. It includes an agentic AI Assistant in beta that can complete multi-step tasks directly within an Archicad model, AI Assistant Spaces grounded in a firm’s own standards and project knowledge, and an updated AI Visualizer.

Allplan Max 2027 extends AI across Nemetschek’s engineering portfolio, including Allplan, SCIA, FRILO, RISA and SDS2. Its capabilities include Feature Builder, AI BIM Modeler, AI Structural Analyst, AI Drafter and AI Coach. Early beta users reported up to 36% faster completion of selected tasks, although engineers remain responsible for design intent, review and approval.

Bluebeam Max adds Smart Review to identify design discrepancies and missing information, Smart Overlay to detect changes across drawing sets, and Magic Markups to automate repetitive markups and takeoffs. More than 2,000 early adopters reported productivity gains in preconstruction, design coordination and construction management.

Openness for project teams

Nemetschek positioned openness as a central differentiator. Its AI Assistant uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to interact with its software and enable access for third-party AI applications. Archicad Max includes a public Archicad MCP Server in beta, while Bluebeam Max supports MCP for Anthropic Claude, GitHub Copilot CLI and AnythingLLM.

The company also emphasised support for Open BIM and the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) standard, allowing project information to move between disciplines, tools and partners across the building lifecycle. Connected Studio Sessions link Bluebeam markups to the relevant locations in Revit drawing and model views, bridging PDF and BIM workflows.

“AI in our industry only creates real value when it understands the project, works where professionals work and connects with everything else on the job,” said Julian Geiger, chief AI officer at Nemetschek Group. “Customers keep ownership of their data, their choice of tools and their professional judgment.”

Relevance for Asia-Pacific

For Asia-Pacific contractors, engineers and developers, the offering arrives as large infrastructure, urban development and data centre projects increase demand for coordinated design and construction information. Nemetschek said its solutions support project categories including airports, railways, ports, bridges, tunnels and sustainable buildings.

The Max products build on the group’s AI Layer announced in 2024 and the Nemetschek AI Assistant rolled out across brands since 2025. Because they share the same intelligence platform, capabilities developed for one discipline can be extended to others over time.
